The United States of AmericaKen Leonard has over 30 years’ leadership experience in research, development and deployment of advanced technologies. His work to mature and develop technologies in energy; combat systems; strategic defense; aviation communications, navigation and surveillance; weather and surface transportation has guided technology systems from the laboratory to operational use. He is the Director of Intelligent Transportation Systems at the United States Department of Transportation where he works to advance a portfolio of programs designed to transform the way society moves. These include connected and automated vehicles, smart cities, accessible transportation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and other cutting-edge transportation systems designed to increase the safety and productivity of the nation’s transportation system.

European UnionMs Rosalinde van der Vlies, is the Director of the Clean Planet Directorate in the European Commission’s, Directorate-General for Research and Innovation. Before her appointment as Director, Ms van der Vlies was the Head of Coordination & Interinstitutional Relations Unit, and acting Head of Communication & Citizens Unit. Previously she held positions in Directorate-General Environment, Directorate-General Justice and Home Affairs, and in the private office of Janez Potočnik, the European Commissioner for the environment. Before joining the European Commission, she worked as a competition lawyer in an international law firm in Brussels and was a part-time teacher at the Catholic University in Brussels.

東京大学モビリティ・イノベーション連携研究機構 特任研究員Manabu Umeda is a Project Researcher at Mobility Innovation Collaborative Research Organization, the University of Tokyo (UTmobI). He joined the University of Tokyo on November 2019. He was appointed Collaborative research coordinator in SIP-adus steering committee in 2020. He started his professional career as an automotive safety engineer in Nissan Motor Corporation in 1999, and worked for Nissan Motor Manufacturing (UK) Ltd. in 2006-2009.

The United States of AmericaRob has over 30 years experience across the Department of Transportation, Department of Defense and the commercial sector in Program Management, Research and Development Management, Science and Technology Management, Systems Engineering, Systems Integration, Test and Evaluation and Flight Testing.
Rob’s most recent technology focus has been in the areas of research and testing of Autonomous and Cyber Systems.
Rob is currently the Director of the Highly Automated Systems Safety (HASS) Center of Excellence (COE) within the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Transportation for Research and Technology (OST-R). Rob was most recently the Division Chief for the Intelligent Technologies Safety Research Division within the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Rob has a BS in Aeronautical Engineering from California Polytechnic University. He has attained the government’s highest level of professional certification in Program Management and System Engineering. Rob is married with three sons. -

European UnionLudger Rogge is Policy Officer at the European Commission, Directorate-General for Research and Innovation in Brussels/Belgium. He works in the unit for Future Urban and Mobility Systems and is since 2015 in charge of the EU research programme on Automated Road Transport. He was recently involved in setting up the European Partnership on Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility (CCAM), which is a Public Private Partnership to promote pre-competitive research on CCAM in Europe.

Reinhold Friedrich

GermanyMr Friedrich is Deputy Head of Division 512 “Electronics and Autonomous Driving” at the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). His responsibilities include research funding for innovation in electronic components and systems for autonomous electric vehicles as well as for the realization of automated driving functions. He holds a Diplom masters-level degree in Public Administration from the University of Konstanz (where he specialized in Technology Assessment and Science Policy). From 1985 he worked as a researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO in Stuttgart. In May 1989 he joined the Federal Ministry for Research and Technology (BMFT, which later became the BMBF) as a project officer. He has been part of Division 512 since September 2012.

ChinaDr. Keqiang Li is now a Professor at the School of Vehicle and Mobility, Tsinghua University. He currently serves as the managing director of the State Key Laboratory of Automotive Safety and Energy, the chief scientist of the National Innovation Center of Intelligent and Connected Vehicles, the director of the Center for Intelligent Connected Vehicles and Transportation, Tsinghua University, and the director of Committee of Experts of China Industry Innovation Alliance for the Intelligent and Connected Vehicles. Professor Keqiang Li is an expert in the field of automotive intelligence. He has devoted to the theoretical research and engineering application of the dynamic design and control of intelligent vehicle driving system for decades. He has won two 2nd Class for State Technological Invention Award and one 2nd Class for the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award. More than 60 domestic and foreign invention patents have been authorized, and more than 200 SCI/EI papers have been published.
