Tyron Louw's main research area is in human factors and driver behaviour. Since graduating from Rhodes University, South Africa, with a BSc (Hons) and MSc (Res) in Ergonomics, Tyron has been a PhD scholar in the Institute for Transport Studies at University of Leeds, under the supervision of Dr Natasha Merat and Professor Oliver Carsten. His research focuses on the human factors of highly automated driving. He is specifically interested in understanding drivers' capabilities and limitations in the transition from automated to manual driving, as well as applying new methodologies and analyses to study this interaction. Tyron also conducts research for the EU-funded projects CityMobil2 and AdaptIVe, where he investigates various aspects of road users' interactions with automated road transport systems and assists in the development of evidence-based functional design requirements for the interaction between a driver and an aut omated vehicle.
