Joop Veenis is principal consultant and director at VPS. A privately owned knowledge and innovation consultancy hired by Dutch governments to innovate and change. With over 25 years of experience on change-projects at the Ministry of Infrastructure, Environment and Public Works he has established a excellent track record and network of people and knowledge. He was responsible for the knowledge management process and strategy of the Ministry and the Department of Transport and Public works and for the land registry. Besides the central government agency's Joop has worked for de-central governments on eGovernment en organization development for over 12 years, putting policy in to practice.
Joop was there in 1995 introducing the Internet in the Netherlands with ISOC. The digital revolution in automotive today feels just as big a change. The transition period from technology to society is complex and a source o f inspiration for Joop's work. Joop likes to facilitate and connect people to achieve goals like a more safe, clean, reliable and comfortable mobility for the rich and the poor, the older and the younger people. Cooperation is therefore required and still needs to be organized between government, academia, automotive, urban architects etc. Joop has facilitated the Knowledge Institute on Mobility (KIM) on the long term scenario's for the deployment of automated vehicles in the Netherlands.
Joop's current assignment at the Ministry is to support the project on automated vehicle's with knowledge management, enabling large scale testing of automated vehicle's on public roads. At Connekt a network of over 125 people where gathered this year to define a knowledge and research agenda for automated Vehicles on knowledge area's like: legal, technical, deployment, impact and human factors. Joop has furthermore setup a digital knowledge platform to share (internati onal) knowledge documents. De-central road authorities where addressed by Joop to create awareness.
Joop visited San Francisco an Detroit to gather knowledge and is curious to discover best practices for automatic driving from Japan and honored to speak on the subject of connected/cooperative vehicles at SIP adus.
