Matt Smith is the statewide ITS Program Administrator for the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), and is responsible for setting and implementing the Department's strategy on Intelligent Transportation Systems, Connected Vehicle Systems, and Automated Vehicle support.
MDOT's ITS program consists of over $30 million annually in capital and operational projects.
Mr. Smith was MDOT's Metro Region Traffic and Safety Engineer in the Detroit before becoming the ITS Program Manager. Prior to joining the Department, he worked in the consulting industry as a traffic engineer after graduating from Penn State.
